Our Pastor is the Reverend Claire McKeown.  She is in her 22nd year of pastoral ministry and is a North Carolina native.  Claire graduated from Meredith College and Duke Divinity School and has pastored United Methodist Churches across the North Carolina Conference.  Claire's ministry passions are preaching, teaching Bible study, and helping people experience a vibrant and joyful discipleship which leads to a deeper love for God and one another.   Claire also loves all things lavender, cooking, shopping locally, and celtic music.

Jackie Whitfield, Director, Childcare Center

Carrboro UMC Childcare provides a Christian based, affordable, age-appropriate educational and developmental program for the community.  Jackie has a long relationship with Carrboro Methodist Church and Carrboro Methodist Childcare. She has been a member of the church since 1957 and has been at the center for 15 years. As a member of the church, Jackie has been Chairperson of the Childcare Center, Lay Leader, Chairperson of the Administrative Council, Sunday School Superintendent and Secretary of United Methodist Women. She is married with two grown daughters and one grandson. We provide children with strong Christian morals and values that we hope will serve them well throughout their lives. We look forward to serving you and your family with your childcare needs.

Jackie Lofgren, Administrative Assistant

Jackie Lofgren has been with Carrboro United Methdoist Church since 2006.  Jackie has worked for many organizations, both private and government, over the past 30 years and brings to CUMC a diverse background of experience and ideas.  She has traveled all over the world, living 3 years in Spain and 2 years in the Republic of Korea.  Since her husband's retirement from 24 years serving the Air Force, Jackie and her family have settled in Chapel Hill and have come to call North Carolina home.  She enjoys traveling, reading, and following the UNC Tar Heels through the football, basketball, and baseball seasons.

Robert Colson, Sexton

Robert Colson has been with the Carrboro UMC since 1987.  Robert is employed by both the Church and the Childcare Center and he brings to our church invaluable service and dedication to his work.  Our church is truly blessed to have Robert on staff.

Dale LaRue Bailey, Diector of Music & Worship Arts

Dale has been with Carrboro UMC for 5 years.  We are blessed to have his talents and experiences to draw upon.  His fine leadership of our choir brings joy to the congregation on Sunday mornings.  Dale works with the 4 year old children of the childcare center introducing them to song and praise music, and he has directed several family drama productions for our church.  Dale and his wife became members of our congregtion in December 2006.

Brian Sartor, Youth Minister

Brian was born and raised in Mississippi. He went to college in Texas and to Divinity School in Alabama. He has been a Baptist, a Presbyterian, and an Episcopalian, but he comes from a long line of United Methodists. Brian and his wife Jana moved to Chapel Hill in 2004, and their son Ezra was born in 2005. Brian has worked with youth and college students in the Deep South and more locally with young adults in their 20s and 30s. He is interested in experimenting with outreach and evangelism, and he is happy to be part of Carrboro UMC as Youth Minister. In his spare time Brian enjoys hiking, reading theology, and visiting with friends both old and new.

George Morgan, Pianist and Organist

George has been with Carrboro UMC for over 20 years, delighting the congregation on Sundays with piano and organ music during our morning worship services.  George also provides the music for our family drama productions, and for our special worship services.  George speak several different languages and is an avid reader.  Our church is richly blessed to have on staff such a gifted individual with a multitude of talents.

Sherry Durham, Sunday Morning Nursery Supervisor

29.jpgSherry has been with the church for several years providing a loving and nurturing experiences for infants and toddlers during our Sunday morning worship services.  Sherry is an active church member, participating in several  activities including United Methodist Women and CROP Walk to name a few.  Her bright smile and sunny disposition bring joy to our children on Sunday morning, and are a true blessing to our church.
