Carrboro UMC will continue to receive a Special Offerings for Haiti.  Gifts can be designated either for “Haiti Emergency” (UMCOR Advance #418325) to be distributed through UMCOR or for “NC Conference Disaster Appeals,” (Conference Advance #S-00096) to assist with our shipping costs. 100% of all contributions through Advance Missions Giving go directly to support the designated mission project.

We will also receive contributions of UMCOR health kits and blankets and/or tarps. No clothing will be accepted!

We will collect health kits, blankets, and tarps until March 25, 2010.  We will gratefully accept offerings for Haiti relief at any time.

We have RESCHEDULED the Health Kit Packing Party to allow people more time to collect and bring needed items.  The Packing Party will be SUNDAY, MARCH 7, 3-5pm. 

UMCOR Health Kits For Haiti

__1 hand towel (15” x 25” up to 17” x 27”)
__1 bath-size bar of soap in original wrapper(3 oz. and up)
__1 washcloth
__1 toothbrush(single brushes only in original wrapper)
__1 hair comb(large and sturdy, not pocket-size)
__1 large tube of toothpaste(no sample or travel sizes. If there is an expiration date, it should be 1 Year from today’s date. )
__1 nail file or nail clipper (no emery boards or toenail clippers)
__6 adhesive plastic strip sterile bandages

Wrap the brand new items in the new hand towel, tie it with a string or yarn, and place inside a sealed, one-gallon plastic bag with zipper closure.

The community is invited to join us for a Haitian dinner on Saturday, February 27, 5:30-7pm.  We will serve Haitian foods such as red beans and rice; all funds raised will go to Haiti Relief through UMCOR. 

Sunday, February 14 is Valentine's Day.

Confirmation Classes will begin January 17 for youth.  Confirmation is a process of choosing to commit your life to being a disciple of Jesus Christ.  If you're a youth and curious about Christianity, Jesus Christ, and the Church, you're invited to be part of this exploration with us!  Our orientation session will be on January 17 at 6pm.  For more information, click here
